You can be opposed to abortion AND be opposed to laws forbidding it.
More laws=more government=less freedom and liberty

I don't really know what term accurately describes me on the abortion issue.

I am definitely opposed to the killing of fetuses based on tne notion that a child would inconvenient. However, I do believe abortion should be legal under certain circumstances.

I wish the Democrats had stuck closely to their originally stated position on the issue: keep it safe, legal and rare.

I firmly believe it needs a lot more regulation, but outlawing it completely does seem unwise to me. In the cases when its the choice of a mother's death or an abortion, the mother should be the one making the decision. It seems that some extreme pro-lifers want to outlaw even that.

Lee -

I certainly hope not. It sounds like Lakoff is pro-choice, although he may just be dodging the issue, since he's presuming to speak for and to political liberals of all religious stripes.

I think liberals are changing their tune in general regarding abortion -- recognizing that the seamless garment starts in the womb, and wanting to work to reduce and eliminate unwanted pregnancies, while opposing the "criminalization" of abortion. A position that angers both the pro-life and the abortion-on-demand folks. Which means they probably have it about right.
